Lawanda Council (Co-Founder/Executive Director)
Lawanda developed a passion for the arts at a very young age. Born and raised in the Washington DC/Northern VA area she graduated high school early and moved to North Carolina to further her education. She is an alumni of Pfeiffer University. Her studies included English, Theater, Early Childhood & Elementary Education. Her acting experience and passion for the arts paid off when she landed the main role of Dorothy in "The Wiz" for one of the school's major productions. Lawanda was heavily involved in community theater, mentoring at-risk youth after school, and teaching musical theater to all sages. In 2004, Lawanda opened a small private school for the early learner, which expanded in 2008 to two additional schools serving ages 6 weeks-12 years of age. In 2006 she worked as Writer/Director/Producer for Real Life Productions and served as the Music Arts Director for Breath of Life Ministries in Charlotte, NC. She is also a lifelong member of Narroway Productions in Fort Mill South Carolina (A Christian Broadway Theater Company). At Narroway, she landed the lead role of "Donna" for the Christmas production, "The Real Christmas Story." Lawanda's love for the arts has lead her to expand once again to serve the Washington, DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia areas. She is married to Darren Council, and they have three children who are also very involved in music, dramatic arts, and film.
