Do You Remember the First Time?

February 13, 2019

This week's topic Lawanda and I were talking about when we first met and gave a little detail on our story. It's always interesting and funny how we can tell the story and we laugh about it every time we discuss it.

Diving into it a little deeper, I had no intentions of getting married. As I explained in our short story, all I was trying to do was have a little fun. What's interesting about this looking back, is that marriage was the best thing that could of happened to me at that very moment in time.

I was in the military and didn't have much purpose other than spending money when I made it. The only influences I had were my battle buddies around me, and they were doing the same things I did. I never knew that friending that sweet looking church girl with the rose in her hand would change my life forever.

We met in November (online-BlackPlanet.com) and talked/typed to one another for 4-5 hours at a time every night for two months consistently. I remember during that process not even knowing if this was a serious thing or not. Truth be told, I didn't even know what real love felt like, and most definitively didn't know how to communicate that to Lawanda. Lawanda actually told me that she loved me first and when she said it to me, I said, "Oh ok."

We told the story of when we first me and our first impressions. By the time that we met, (January 31st) I was almost certain that she was the one, besides giving another girl a Valentine day gift (she was a stalker and I was scared for my life!

As the time progressed we became inseparable. So here is a timeline for you: We met online in November, physically met on January 31st, engaged in April, married that June, bought our house that December, and had our first child that following November. We have been happily married for over 15 years, and I don't know what I would do without her.
